The Historiographer

In 1999, the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church (HSEC) joined  the National Episcopal Historians and Archivists (NEHA) to to co-sponsor The Historiographer which has served as a NEHA publication since 1961.

Guidelines for Submission

  • Promotion of NEHA / HSEC projects or activities
  • Reports on NEHA / HSEC meetings
  • Episcopal Women's History Project presentations
  • Biographical sketches on important church figures
  • Historical sketches of churches
  • Reviews of church histories on the web
  • Articles not suited to the HSEC journal publication, Anglican and Episcopal History
  • Church or Diocesan Archival Committee activities 

Style for Submissions

  • 500 to 2000 words
  • Follow The Chicago Manual of Style, 14th ed. (1993)
  • Follow Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 10th ed. (1993)
  • Text should be more engaging than academic in style, tell a good story, and lend itself to possible illustration
  • Text should appeal to a broad audience

Procedures for Submissions

  • Publication schedule is quarterly, January, April, July and October
  • Submit articles for review two months in advance of publication or February, May, August, and November
  • Preferred method of submission is e-mail with graphic images sent separately to editor pro-tem Margaret Landis at nehahqs@aol.com. If you ish to submit by mail, please contact the editor for mailing instructions.
